Eric Del Balso

Founder and General Partner

Eric Del Balso is a seasoned business development and sales executive with 15 years of experience working in digital media and software/technology. As a major contributor to many of Silicon Valley's most innovative companies, Eric is widely recognized by his peers in the industry as a thought leader and a results oriented executive.

For more than a decade, Eric has established a solid track record of executing unique and impactful product and marketing based alliances with Global 500 companies. He has built, executed and managed sales and business development efforts globally and has extensive international experience in both Europe and Asia Pacific.

As Chief Revenue Officer and SVP of Business Development for thismoment Inc, Eric has responsibility for global sales, corporate and business development and strategic partnerships. Eric and his team are pioneers in the industry building one of the first ever owned, earned and paid engagement platform for brands, publishers and agencies. The team is leading the industry to develop standards around the deployment of social while embracing the idea of an open product stack delivered as a software as a service (SAAS). Through the scaling of a direct sales organization and the implementation a multi tenant channel sales strategy, Eric has been able to help the company achieve tremendous growth. During his tenure, Eric conceived and executed a product and go to market partnership with Google that has now become a core part of Google's social marketing services offering worldwide.

In 2008, Eric founded Ignite Advisors to bring together a brain trust of talent to accelerate early stage digital media and software/technology businesses. The Ignite team holds a deep passion for helping startup media companies realize their full commercial potential. In this capacity, Eric and the Ignite team led the turn around of thismoment, Inc from a multi media social application to a leading social marketing software company. The Ignite team has broad experience in traditional and digital media and is well versed in all aspects of marketing communications. They have completed specific engagements in a number of sectors including mobile, social commerce, social marketing software, content publishing, health & wellness and branded entertainment.

Prior to starting Ignite, Eric was the Senior Director in the Corporate Partnerships Group at Yahoo!. During his three years there, Eric was responsible for making key strategic contributions to the company's big bets and key initiatives through the exploration of industry changing ideas and partnerships. Acting as the primary liaison to the VC and private equity community, he looked for new areas of innovation to jumpstart Yahoo's business and/or product roadmaps.

Eric also served as Senior Director of Yahoo's Global Strategic Partnerships, where he launched a new business unit charged with developing large-scale commercial agreements with Fortune 500 companies including Philips, Intel and Sony. Eric was the top revenue producer on the team, developing, planning, and executing numerous multimillion-dollar strategic partnerships.

Between 2000-2005, Eric was MSN's first digital media executive to represent the full product suite of Microsoft Online Services to its key marketing partners in the technology and telco industry.

Eric worked in Silicon Valley from 1996-2000 where he held a top sales position in the Media Services Group at Excite@Home. He is proud to be part of a small group of industry executives to have helped influence the early direction of the Internet advertising business.

Eric was born and raised in New York City. He enjoys live music, photography, and is an avid cyclist. He currently spends his time between NYC and San Francisco.
